3度目。お気に入り映画見直し。
個人的にとても特別な映画。
壮大でロマンチックすぎるオープニングに始まり、名言が散りばめられたSFの名作。
地球外生命体がもし存在するとしたら、彼らとコンタクトすることが可能だったら。
全部が、理屈じゃない。証拠や説明がなくても、たしかに存在するものがある。
壮大でロマンチックな科学の夢を扱っていながら、もしそうだとしたら政治と宗教と科学はどう折り合いをつけて行くのかと言う永遠の人類の課題も提起しつつ、この広い宇宙に存在する我々の存在意義とは何かと言った哲学的な問いを投げかけ、最後にはとてもこの広い宇宙の一員として存在していることに感謝し、温かい気持ちになる、全てが詰まっていながら優しい映画。
主人公の果てしなく真っ直ぐな夢に心奪われ、名言の数々に心打たれる。
久しぶりに観たけど、やっぱり感動した。

だってこの広い宇宙に私たち人間だけしかいないとしたら、広い宇宙がもったいない。

我々はなぜここにいるのか、何をしているのか、我々は何者なのか。

人間は美しい夢も破壊的な悪夢も描く、興味深い複雑な種。君はもう一人じゃない。お互いの存在が孤独を埋めてくれるから。
“A vision... of the universe, that tells us, undeniably, how tiny, and insignificant and how... rare, and precious we all are! A vision that tells us that we belong to something that is greater then ourselves, that we are *not*, that none of us are alone! “
