The Lego Ninjago Movie furthers the connective tissue of father-son dynamic that has been emblematic for the franchise. Gratefully, the third entry to Lego's pseudo-cinematic universe is also the most visually appealing. Having said that, for a series applauded for its creative stories, The Lego Ninjago Movie felt uninspired and awfully generic. Whether the Lego formula has exhausted itself is yet to be seen. Granted, next to its two predecessors Lego Ninjago suffers from mediocre gags and disappointing emotional gravitas. All in all, Lego's rendition of the Skywalker saga is easily the series' most middling outing thus far.
