Edgar Wright back at it again!!
When I first heard the title "Baby Driver" I wasn't sure what kind of movie to expect.
Then the trailer came out, a getaway driver who listens to music, that's cool! I'm in!
Baby Driver was one film that really benefited from the direction of Edgar Wright. His slick editing, that overlaps with the soundtrack was really clever. I don't know why more movies don't do this.
Ansel Elgort was an actor I never really thought much of. But in here, I thought he was really able to carry a lot of the story. He's cool when he's behind the wheels listening to his music, but when problems start to occur, he becomes more than that.
The heist team particularly Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm were fantastic. Jamie Foxx could be really funny and intimidating in a split second. He really stole this movie.
Jon Hamm was another actor that I didn't think much of. I thought he was good in The Town, but in here he's another person that can change. He goes from being kinda warm to then being really scary.
However I thought the female characters were weak. Lily James' character could have been played by anyone. She was just there to move Baby's story. Same goes for Eiza Gonzalez, who played Jon Hamm's girlfriend. She doesn't really do much.
The action scenes were fantastic, the car chases and the editing was spot on, and this is another win for Edgar Wright. Hope he makes more movies like this!!
