After the mediocrity (and highly forgettable feature) that is Cars 3, Pixar rebounds magnificently with their love letter to Latino culture in Coco. Profoundly imaginative and thoroughly heartfelt, Coco’s narrative tackles richly complex subjects of life, death and familial bond—which are wrapped nicely in a beautifully animated, visually orgasmic and consistently kid-friendly demeanor. None of Coco’s few missteps undermine Pixar’s ingenious twist to “Dia des los Muertos”; and in a typical Pixar’s fashion, Coco will give you sufficient enough reasons to let tears run down your face.
