‘Friend Request’ was directed by Simon Verhoeven and is about a collage student who is very popular and has over 800 friends on Facebook. Receiving a friend request from a weird looking girl, who posts her talented animation on Facebook one day, she confirms her request. However, she is getting obsessed with her and observes everything she posts. Feeling very creepy and a bit worried, the popular collage girl deletes her account. Since then, she has to see friends of hers getting killed one by one...
Although this movie has already come out in most countries I believe, I thought this could be the movie that everyone, especially in my generation, needs to watch to make themselves aware of the dangers inherent in social media like Facebook. This movie made me want to delete my Facebook account, though I didn’t end up doing it :-) Creepy events like massacre which happen in this movie are not that scary, neither is the creepy girl (she sometimes freaked me out though) but I fear that those things could happen on any social media in real life cos I suppose half of the population in each country uses at least one social media to interact with people so those awful things like in this movie might have already happened somewhere..how scary it would be Everyone using social media always has to be careful and never do the cyber bullying and stuff, otherwise the girl would come to you. Well, the movie was okay and enjoyable but I feel it’s a bit overrated in some respects. Anyway I want as many social media users to see this film as possible.
