Hugh Jackman's last movie as Wolverine😢😢😢
Really sad to say. But this movie went out on a bang.
The tone of the movie and the R rating was what we needed to make this character's conflict shine one last time. The Wolverine outrage is associated with tons of blood and gore, and it just felt right. Hats off to Deadpool and Fox for finally giving us this.
But it's not just the violence that makes this movie great. It's the story about a man who lost all hope for this world, get his final shot at getting redemption. By saving a little girl who resembles Logan himself.
Logan sees himself in this little girl that they call X-23. She is out of control, has the same berserker killer instinct that he has, and it's up to Logan to help her follow a better path.
What really surprised me was just how different the characters were. Particularly Logan and Charles. They are but a shadow of their former selves. They have lost all hope and it was kinda sad to see them like that. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart were great. It really helps that the X-Men franchise has been running for 17 years now, because we've grown to love these characters, and feel so much for them now that they are in an extremely vulnerable place.
Newcomer Dafne Keen through her rage and physical acting brought so much to the character of X-23. Through minimal dialogue, she brought so much emotion. Perfect casting! Let's hope she doesn't turn into some other breakout child actors....(Anakin...John Connor....)
It's such a delight to see a film so different from the X-Men series and from a lot of the CG heavy superhero movies today. Hope they don't recast Wolverine and let Hugh Jackman's legacy live on....
