‘The Star Wars Holiday Special’ was a television spin-off film set in the Star Wars universe and directed by Steve Binder and stars the Star Wars original cast and Art Carney. This was made right after episode IV so its story basically takes place between episode IV and V..? However, this spin-off seems to have no connections to the next one in my opinion. This film focuses on Chewbacca and Han Solo who are getting trouble by Star destroyers on their way to Chewbacca’s family for their Happy Life Day’s celebration. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker is working on his X-wing startfighter alongside with R2-D2 (Kenny Bake was actually not involved in this film) and Princess Leia and C3PO are together doing something...
This spin-off ended up being shown on only Television and was never released on anything since this film got a large amount of criticism from both Star Wars fans and public. Moreover, even George Lucas mentioned that if he could go back to the past, he would destroy this project of this crappy film and also burn every single script. He really regrets having become an executive producer of this film. Furthermore, this spin-off is considered to be the worst television film...Oh my gosh, even having known those facts, I spent about 100 minutes on this rubbish cos happened to find this full movie on a website. And I feel that I wasted my precious 100 minutes on this crap. This was a lot more horrible that I had expected. I can’t pick up any good things of this and am full of questions: What the hell happened to Luke’s hair, How many times do I have to hear Chewbacca family’s roaring that almost makes this movie up and how come Art Carney did not turn down such a stupid role in this crappy film??? Most of the cast accepted their each role of this movie despite the fact that they must have been busy for the next episode Empire Strikes Back. That’s the only thing that amazed me. Although I’m a big fan of Star Wars and have even seen Ewok adventures which I kinda enjoyed, it was incredibly hard for me to sit around 100 minutes just to focus on this damn film. Anyway, if you are really curious about this, you go YouTube where you can find this full movie...I never recommend doing that though.
Since I reviewed those Star Wars spin-off films over that weekend, I’ll be back to Review new releases from this week on.
