Terminator: Dark Fate - Movie Review (English translation below)
・[日本語] ターミネーター第6作目:ニューフェイト。オリジナルキャストのリンダ・ハミルトンとシュワちゃんがカムバック。そして、新しくキャラクターもそれぞれ活躍はしていた。これは、ターミネーター1&2の続編であり、3、4、5は完璧に無視されているため、ややこしくはなるが、オープニングの最初のシーンのおかげで、なんとなくジェネシスとは繋がってないということがわかる。
しかし、新しい悪役(またメタルで出来た、形を変えれるやつ)、キャタクターが登場したとはいえ、ほぼ以前のターミネーターのクリエティブな部分だけ取って、合体させたみたいな作品だった。いわゆる、何が起こるのかがとても予想できる。すべてがリピートしているみたいだった。そのため、GraceとDaniと関係性もけっこう読めてしまう。しかし、ジェームズキャメロンが帰ってきたおかげで、アクションシーンは最高だった。ここは見どころ。
全体的にいえば、オリジナルキャスト(リンダとシュワちゃん)が久しぶりに共演しているのをみたのは良かったが、あまり面白くはないし、せめてジェネシスと繋げたらよかったのかな。
・[ENG] The 6th instalment of Terminator series, though technically it’s a sequel to only the first two films, focused more on developing new characters, at the same time bringing back old memories and some nostalgia for hard-core fans with comeback of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 Terminator.
The opening scene totally provides us with some details of the world the story takes place in, hence making it a bit clear that the film was not following the events of Terminator: Genysis. That was good. However, even with the introduction of the new antagonist, the Rev-9 model the development of the plot was just like the one mixed with a bit of elements from each Terminator film and again he can shape himself as anything he sees. So there was really nothing new or appalling to the film unfortunately.
On account of some similarities to the previous films, the relationship between Dani and Grace sent to protect her was quite obvious.Basically once an audience gets a grip of the pattern of how the story develops everything which could’ve been surprising or something that stirs up emotions gets really predictable. However, with the executive producer, James Cameron the action sequences were extravagant filled with awesome visual effects.
Overall, it was disappointing regardless of the benefit of seeing the original cast who, needless to say, showed us terrific performances, reuniting together the first time in 25 years. It would’ve been better if the film hadn’t completely ditched 3,4, and 5.
