‘All the Money in the World’ was directed by my favourite Ridley Scott and stars Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg and Christopher Plummer. This is based on the true event that happened in the beginning of 1970, when one of the world-richest private citizen’s son (played by Christopher Plummer) was kidnaped by some guys in Rome. Asked to pay a ransom of $17 million in exchange of her son by the kidnappers, her mother (played by Michelle Williams) tries to beg her former father-in-law, the richest man and rescue her son with a help from her attorney (played by Mark Wahlberg). Nevertheless, he keeps refusing pay the ransom for his grandson, reckoning that it would encourage further abductions on his family members. Meanwhile, the kidnaped son gets weaker and her mother is threatened by them to kill her son unless she pays them...

I actually had no idea that Ridley Scott had made this film until The Golden Globe Awards. Frankly speaking, this film was such fantastic, really well-written and well-directed that I couldn’t keep my eyes of the screen at all till the end of the film. I don’t really agree with his refusal to pay the ransom even though his beloved grandson might be killed, though we all know that he is afraid of its consequences after paying the ransom but it’s interesting to see him keeping refusing it and she makes an attempt to talk him into doing it with her lawyer.

Speaking of lawyer, Mark Wahlberg was really good in this film. Though he has a strong comical impression due to making appearances in action comedy films, whereas in this film he looks really totally different and knowledgeable, saying only logical things to win him over to help his grandson. He was really good. Despite the fact that Christopher Plummer was given a limited time to complete his performance for Kevin Spacey’s replacement...(you know about Kevin Spacey who ended up getting fired from this film due to multiple sexual misconduct allegations levelled against him) but despite that, Christopher Plummer did a really good job and as far as I searched, he was actually the Riddley’s first choice for that role and he came back. Though wished that I could see Kevin Spacey playing that role, I felt really good that Christopher made it perfect. I think only a very few actors even with a heavy make-up could’ve done that job as he did or perhaps not. The story sounds a bit serious and made up of many negotiations, persuasions and that sort of business stuff, but as long as you keep on focusing on that, it’ll definitely excite you and make you learn about the difference between becoming the rich and being the rich . Moreover, some scenes are kinda harsh for us to see particularly when cutting the kidnapped teenager’s....you’ll see what the post refers to. That looks awfully painful but it really happened about 50 years ago. Maybe this film hasn’t been advertised that much and not a lot of people know about this film but I highly recommend this.

Thank you for reading my brief review of ‘All the Money in the World’!
