I went to see a Japanese film called ‘Shoplifters’, which won the Cannes’ Palme d’Or. This film tells a story of family ties even in the face of committing crimes. It turns the spotlight on the shadow of society. I heard the following news after I watched it. Koreeda, the film's director, has turned down the congratulations he received from the Japanese government. He said that he'd like to keep distance from authority. It seems like he thinks that by not accepting flattery from anyone, he will be able to make good films. Anyway, I should not have seen a making-of video on YouTube before seeing the film.
パルムドール賞を獲った「万引き家族」を観に行った。たとえ彼らが犯罪を犯していたとしても、これは家族の絆を物語る映画。社会の影に一つの光が当てられました。
鑑賞後あるニュースを聞いた。日本政府の祝意を是枝監督が辞退したという。「公権力とは潔く距離を保つ」と。そんな彼の誰にも媚びない姿勢が、良い映画を作ることができるんだろう。
私は先にメイキングとか観ちゃったんだけど、何の先入観も持たずに観るべきだったなぁ。
エンディングの細野さんの音楽もカッコ良すぎでしょ。
