“Peppermint”, whose title doesn’t make any sense. It was directed by Pierre Morel (known for Taken) and stars Jeniffer Garner (known for Elektra). I felt like I was watching a female version of The Equalizer or Death Wish, which have a slightly similar story line with the movie but it was, maybe needless to say, worse than them. The speed of extinguishing bad asses was quite fast and it just kept going on and on without facing any issues that she finds hard to deal with and also the way she revenges was cliched. As I said in the beginning, I’m very used to see characters revenging their family members by torturing or brutally killing them and the movie totally follows the typical format. So in my opinion, there should have been something which makes it harder for her to pull her revenge off and something which makes her dwell on whether it is worth doing or not coz as we all know, just killing them doesn’t mean her family is going to be back so...I just needed to see some elements that makes the movie a bit more dramatic rather than slasher. Nevertheless, her performance was brilliant. I was real impressed by how she converts her looking kind character as a mother into another one as a bloody cruel bad ass lady who knows well how to torture people. That was awesome. One more issue was its title “peppermint” which was the flavour of an ice cream that her daughter asked her to get right before she got killed with her dad. But what’s the point? Was it for keeping reminding audiences of the fact that her daughter got killed? I dunno. Cheers! #peppermintmovie #jeniffergarner #moviereview
