•[ENG] I gotta be real honest with this one that I have never enjoyed Guy Richie’s films (e.g Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, and etc) although they have got pretty good reviews. Maybe the way he presents stories doesn’t really intrigue me that much. I dunno. This newest film was also kinda disappointing to me. Since I knew how he approaches to character development and expanding stories some things that could’ve been a climax were kinda predictable, therefore not either appalling or mesmerising.
However, I like the idea of setting up the central scene where a writer and one of the mobs converse over a glass of drinks at first and with his narration the story behind everything develops itself in flashbacks. It feels more settling and comfortable to see what’s coming next than just seeing car chasing or the cat and mouse game happening at the present time.
When it comes to characters, since there are multiple characters trying to steal scenes at the same time, it felt that each character’s backgrounds, goals and all that jazz were quite rushed to be mentioned. As scenes go to another we get new information about them but they are pretty forgettable after all cos of the chaotic jumble throughout the story. (Btw it has nothing to do with the Kingsman universe)
