傑作でした。今回チャップリン作品を見るまではチャップリンは「独裁者」で有名な喜劇王だと思っていました。今作はその喜劇王的一面だけでなく、監督チャップリンとしてどのようなメッセージを私たちに伝えたいかが前面に出ている作品で、非常に内容も面白く、そして深いテーマとなっており、退屈になるなど一秒もありませんでした。
ストーリーはある1人の男で、その男は多くの女性と不倫をし、金を騙し取る詐欺師であった。彼は詐欺師であるのと同時に依頼者のターゲットを殺す暗殺者の仕事もこなしていた。そんな彼は今日も新たな女性を見つけるためにいつもの帽子を被り、杖を持ち、街を歩いていた。
この映画の魅力はチャップリンが私たちに語りかける殺人の概念である。一連の殺人の流れはどのように起きるのか。またそれはどのような結末で終わるのか。今作は秀作の中の秀作です。
This was such a great film! It was my first viewing of Chaplin’s work. Before watching this, I only knew him as a world famous comedian actor. But now I’ve learned that he was also a world famous director. Throughout this film, there was not a single scene that made me feel bored. It’s definitely worth watching.
This is a story of a man who cheats on many women and takes money from them. He is a cheater. While he is a cheater, he is also an assassin. When he receives an order from his clients, he kills the target. On the same day, he is walking the streets with his hat and stick to find a new woman.
The best part of the film was how Chaplin portrays the concept of killing. He describes how murder occurs and how it turns out. This film is truly the best of the best.
