今回の是枝作品もなかなかの秀作だと思います。一見、お盆に実家に帰り、食事を共にするどこにでもいる家族を写しているように見えて、その中で起こる家族間のいざこざやわだかまりを今作は秀逸に描いていると思います。今回の主要人物は子供ではなく、大人だったため、是枝監督の得意とするありのままの子供の演技を見ることはあまりできませんが、俳優たちのこれでもか、と私たち観客に突きつけてくる、大人社会の苦しさを非常にうまく演じていると思いました。是枝作品の中でも割と初期の映画でしたが、それでもすでに頭角を表していると感じました。是非皆さんも！
I thought that this film was also well crafted. On the surface, It portrays a family visit their parents’ house during Obon and spending time with them, and just catching up on life/ talking about how they’ve been doing. However, it actually vividly depicts tense atmosphere among them very clearly. In this film, you do see a lot of scenes with child actors but there are many important adult characters who make you realize to maintain good relationship good. I think although it was a film that Koreeda directed when he was young, he already demonstrated his talent for making good movies.
