ー “Why would I want anyone to come see me like this?” “It's not your call. It's not about you. You spent the better part of your life trying to minister to other people, trying to be there for their needs, and to be there for them through difficulty and tragedy. And yet you have deprived them of doing the same thing for you. And that's all they have to offer you, Don. You're taking that gift away from them.”
映画が始まって3分で主人公大きな交通事故に巻き込まれ、到着した警察により即死と断定される。しかし、タイトルから主人公が死んでいないことは分かっているので、悲しい映画が苦手な私でも観られる。
信心深い家族の話で、完全にキリスト教を助長する内容。
無宗教の私が100%共感できたかと言えばそうではないが、周囲からの純粋な優しさを拒まず受け入れ、支え合い、上を向いて生きようと勇気づけられる映画だった。
ちなみにこんな原題だが、彼が「天国を体験した」と口にするのは映画が終わるほんの20分前のこと。つまりこれはafterlifeの世界を創造し描くファンタジー映画ではない。それまで全く天国について言及がなかったので、映画が一番伝えたいとするメッセージ（天国は存在するということ）をすっかり忘れるところだった。その点では邦題の方が、映画の内容をうまく表現できていて的確な気がする。
