Little Women - Movie Review

•[日本語] とても美しい4人の姉妹達を描いた古典映画:若草物語のリメイク。まずキャスト達が美しすぎる+豪華: シアーシャローナン、フローレンスピュー、エマワトソン、エライザスキャンレン。そしてもちろんティモシーシャラメ。美とチャームを彼らの演技でしっかりとストーリーに染み込んでおり、最後まで感じ取れる。グレタガーウィッグ監督(代表作:レディ・バード)は、名作古典映画のレガシーをしっかりと保ちながら、彼女なりに紹介をしていてすばらしい。
しかし、ストーリーのなかに漂う暖かさの中、進みがモノトーン。1人1人のキャラクターに飛び越えないといけない困難などはあるが、あまりそれが生かされてなかったかな。つまらないわけではないが、途中ですこし感情移入ができなくなってしまう。
そして、ストーリー上で、過去と現在を表すフラッシュバックのアイデアは好きだが、あまりにも頻繁に変わるものだから、たまに時間軸を失ってしまう。もちろん、彼らの着ているドレスやヘアスタイルをみればついていけるにだが、すこし多すぎた。
•[ENG] Such a beautiful story of these 4 girls with fascinating cast: Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, and Eliza Scanlen and with Timothée Chalamet. Each talented actress nailed it and imbued the story with charm and beauty drifting round. This also goes to the female director, Greta Gerwig (well known for Lady Bird). She wonderfully re-introduced this classic story at the same time maintaining the legacy and theme in one piece.
Despite the great preservation of warmths throughout the film, it felt like the story went on in a monotone without ups and downs that much. There was really nothing that triggered it to increase more tension or conflict amongst the characters even though each character goes through some hurdles over the course of their lives. So round the middle of the film, I got kinda bored and couldn’t continue to be invested into the film. It was not too dull but I needed it to be more spiced up with some elements.
Also, I liked the use of flashbacks that portray their lives in both the present and past. But I sometimes got lost in that, wondering whether we were in the past or present due to the constant change of time period in the film. Of course, we can tell where we are by their outfits and hairstyle though but it happened a lot to me.
