汚い言葉を覚えるのは、外国語学習の過程でいちばん楽しいところ。原因を考えてみると、母語環境の中で成長する過程で、幼少期から汚い言葉を使わないよう教育されてきた。そのため、多くの下品な語彙は「羞恥感」と結びつき、それらを使ったり耳にしたりすると、本能的な抵抗感を抱きやすい。
しかし、これらの言葉が外国語として現れる場合、指す内容自体は同じであっても、その言語環境の中で育っていない私にとっては、単なる言語記号として受け取られ、同じ羞恥感を喚起することがなくなる。
ここまで見て、これはいちばん大きな感触だ。
