原題：Uptown Saturday Night

豪華キャスト陣：シドニー・ポワチエ、ビル・コスビー、ハリー・ベラフォンテ、フリップ・ウィルソン、リチャード・プライアー、そしてロスコー・リー・ブラウン（コメディシリーズ「ソープ」でサンダース役を演じた俳優）まで出演しています。ポワチエといえばシリアスな役柄のイメージが強いですが、本作ではコメディセンスを発揮し、爆笑必至です！ストーリー自体はやや薄っぺらいものの、ポワチエ監督の手腕は見事です。本作の醍醐味は、コメディ界の巨匠たちがどのようにしてスーパースターになったのかを垣間見ることができる点にあります。特に、プライアー演じる、手がかりを探す時間などなく、金儲けにしか興味がない、ちょっとお節介な私立探偵のシーンは秀逸です。

結局のところ、本作は論理性をあまり気にせず、純粋にエンターテイメント性を追求した、軽快なコメディ・アクション映画と言えるでしょう。

== 英語の評価 ==

This cast is amazing: Sydney Poitier, Bill Cosby, Harry Belafonte, Flip Wilson, Richard Prior, and even Roscoe Lee Browne (who played Saunders in the comedy series "Soap") . I usually associate Poitier with his serious roles but here we see his comedy chops, and he is hilarious! The movie itself is a bit light on plot but is eloquently directed by Poitier. We're really here to see the kings of comedy show us how they became the super stars and there are some great bits, especially Pryor's less than honerable private detective who's got not time to for clues and all the time in the world for your money.

In the end you get a breezy comedy action movie which doesn't worry itself to much about logic and is just here to entertain.
