‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ was directed by Jake Kasdan and stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan. This is a story of four teenagers who get a detention at school and then find a mysterious video game called Jumanji. Curious about it, they start playing the game and suddenly get sucked into the world of the game. Acknowledging each skills and weaknesses, they all have to team up together and must save Jumanji in order to go back to the real world...

This movie is not really a sequel to the original Jumanji starring Robin Williams (Rest in peace). Not gonna spoil the story but since the study begins with a boy who discovers the board game buried in the sand and then it suddenly turns into a game, only connection this new Jumanji has to the original may be the very first beginning of the film as far as I see, thought it’s not important at all. So even if you haven’t seen the original, you definitely enjoy this film. It is better to know about Jumanji a bit though. Back to the nitty gritty, this film was better and more enjoyable than I expected luckily. Because most sequels, prequels or spin-offs are likely to be a failure as you know so didn’t really expect it to be good. But as I said, it was fun and full of humour and jokes mostly cracked by Jack Black as you can imagine. One of the things about this film is the girl who is obsessed with her phone and Instagram turns into Jack Black’s character and becomes better as she goes through lots of stuff with the members without her phone. That’s a really good thing for especially that sort of self-absorbed girls in real life to learn about goodness of caring about people. Despite what one of my favourite critics disappointedly mentioned about Kevin Hart’s performance in this film, I actually liked what he did there. Some people like quite ones might find him a bit annoying and irritating cos he never stops talking but most people laughed at almost every single line that he says and so did I.

Unlike the original Jumanji which was made for particularly kids, this new one has lots of things that are for adults such as bad jokes or a bit filthy jokes for kids so I think everyone can enjoy this film. I imagined what if Robin Williams were still alive and then appeared in this new Jumanji...

Thank you for reading my brief review of ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’!
