‘Coco’ was a new Disney/Pixer film which follows a young boy who chases his dream to be an accomplished musician like Ernesto de la Cruz whom he really admires despite the fact that his family completely bans on music, which, they think, destroyed everything when Coco, his great-great grandmother, was a kid. Desperate to prove his talent, he steals Ernesto’s guitar from his memoriam and then he finds himself in the colourful Land of the Dead which is the world for dead people. Teamed up with a charming trickstar, he embarks on an extraordinary adventure to find Ernesto but...

Coco has got a lot of positive criticism from both critics and audiences and just won a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Picture yesterday. There’s a very high possibility that the Oscar for Best Anime will also go to Coco this year. Because of these positive things, I finally saw this film today at the theatre filled with all generations, mostly kids I think. Since I had known that this film kept making people cry especially at the end, I didn’t really find it more sentimental that I expected. Maybe because I had read other people’s reviews a bit before seeing it...shouldn’t have done that. Although it didn’t end up making none of the people seeing it with me at the cinema cry as far as I looked around, what most people said was right that the story becomes a tearjerker as it goes toward the end. Not only did it make us cry but it also made us laugh our head off, particularly the middle-aged man sitting next to me...he really laughed a lot at even not funny parts or jokes. Since I was really into playing guitar and loved music when I was his age and also wanted to be a very talented musician like The Beatles, I felt like that I was watching myself in this animated film. Of course my family was not like his though. On the contrary, they loved music. So especially for those who play guitar, this film will make you feel satisfied in some points by focusing the boy who insists on the importance of music. Honestly, it was my first time to watch an animated film at the cinema cos usually saw anime or kinda kid films on the internet at home so thought watching anime at the theatre felt a bit different from at home in a very good way. I recommend seeing this film at the cinema if you have time.

Thank you for reading my brief review of ‘Coco’!
