‘It Comes at Night’ was directed by Trey Edward Shults and stars Joel Edgerton as a man who lives in a very secluded and uneasy shack with his wife and son after a mysterious apocalypse left the world with few survivors. A few days after killing and burning his wife’s father who was infected with a highly contagious unknown disease, they confront and capture a man who was breaking into their house at night. Convinced that he was just trying to save his famished wife and son by doing it, they allow his family to stay with them in a house. However, something creepy keeps happening in their house at night...

I thought this movie was a really horrifying and freaking one like something or someone would possess the residents and the possessed residents go crazy and that sort of stuff. On the contrary, there’s almost nothing scary and nothing freaked me out but this movie gave me creeps until the end of the film. I was actually waiting something like ghosts to come out of the blue just like stereotypical American horror films but nothing really happens where something scary was supposed to happen so this movie kinda freaked me out in a different way. It has not that many dialogues, just really quiet, very creepy even though it was not like other horror films. Although I had no anticipation or no ideas what the movie was about, this movie had such an interesting idea and I liked the way this movie was directed, shot and edited and also all of the cast performances were so nice especially the other family members who are the one that makes this movie really weird and creepy in a very good way cos it’s very uncertain whether they were good or bad people. We cannot really be sure what their intentions were. Anyway, It was really good that all of those cast fit in each character. And I like the poster where a dog is staring at something in a very dark forest. It feels like that something which only animals can see is lurking in a dark forest...we can see this scene in the movie so perhaps you can see what the dog was staring at...perhaps not. I reckon that it’s already finished showing this movie in cinemas in most countries, but I assume few people have seen this movie so if you have time, why don’t you see this movie at night like before going to bed? You might have some nightmares after that though...

Thank you for reading my brief review of ‘It Comes at Night’!
