Honestly not having enjoyed any of the movies that this director, Baltasar Kormákur, directed that much such as Contraband (2012), 2 Guns (2013), or Everest (2015) etc, I didn’t have that higher anticipation for this movie even though I am a fan of drama movies based on true events. Unluckily and kinda expectedly, this movie was not that fun to see since what happens in this movie stay much the same toward the end and also who enjoys seeing them adrift, keeping moving on as far as they can reach, getting starved to death in the whole movie..? I think no one does that much. Though I can’t complain about it coz the movie is, as I said, based on a true event, I sometimes wondered what the director was actually trying to insinuate to the audiences whilst watching this movie. It was just painful to watch for me. However, I really liked Shailene Woodley’s performance that was incredible and very well played. That developed tensions real well and also I understood how hard it was for the film crew to make this movie on the ship. Even from the screen, I could tell the size of the waves during shooting that must have made them vomit from time to time. Even for the film crew, it must have been quite tough to make. But at least we could learn this actual event from this movie so I didn’t mean it was not worth seeing at all.
