As someone who has played monster hunter, it is tempting to watch the live action. It tuned out the movie wasn’t too bad. I would say I enjoyed it.
Some people say the story is thin. But I think it’s fair because it is an action movie. I wouldn’t be happy if I wanna watch an action movie but the movie has a few actions scenes and a lot of story. So for me action movies don’t have to have a good thick story. Action movies should have a good and simple story. Monster hunter doesn’t have a good story but it’s simple, they happen to stuck in a different world where there are monsters trying to kill you and characters try to survive. If you know the game, you know that there is no story in the game. So I didn’t expect any good story from the movie. The game is about to hunt monsters and how to defeat them is the most exciting part so the movie should focus on about it. I think they did a good job about the point. I wasn’t really satisfied with the last part how they defeated the monster but aside from that it was fun to watch how they defeat the other monster. Above all the action senses are thrilling and immersive. Also the movie has some small details form the game and that was nice to have those small details form the game for funs.
