Ad Astra - Movie Review
[日本語] この映画は、テクニカル面で言うととても素晴らしかった。例えば、カメラワークやビジュアルエフェクトは 宇宙の中の美しさ、そして本物さを出していた。たまにスペースシップやキャラクターが宇宙の真ん中で浮いてるのが見られるのだが、弱冠のサウンドやミュージック、もちろんスペースの使い方が、宇宙の中の孤独さをうまく表現されていた。この壮大な製作方法をみて、現代の”2001年宇宙の旅”を見ている感じだった。
しかし、ストーリー面でいうと、話の展開がものすっごく遅い。この映画で起こることがクライマックスに着くまで、何回もリピートしているかのように感じてしまった。クライマックスももうすこし壮大にすべきだったであろう。
モダンシネマのレジェンドとも呼べる、ブラット・ピットも同じことをしているかのように見えてしまった。しかも 彼のナレーションはあんなに必要あったのであろうか…話の流れがとてもスローのため、ストーリー重視で見ている人にとってはすこし辛いかもしれない。テクニカル面を気にする人にとっては、IMAXで見ることをオススメする。宇宙の中にいる感じになる。
P.S. 恐らく、この映画のベストシーンといえば…あの猿でしょ。キーワードになりかねない。Have fun!
[ENG] The film was astonishing in a visual aspect with a masterful way of utilising cinematography that creates beauty and authenticity in the film. The character or the spaceship occasionally can be seen drifting in middle of the vast space throughout the film. That at great extent succeeded in expressing the level of isolation in the space with little sound or music. The application of beautiful cosmic visuals and use of space in this adventure film was terrific and makes us feel like as if we were watching the modern version of “2001: a space odyssey” when it comes to its creation.
However, the development of plot was surprisingly very slow and looks like each eventuality just repeats itself until it reaches the climax that was also quite weak in my opinion.
Consequently, the one of the legendary actors in modern cinema, Brad Pitt seems to be just floating round inside and outside the spaceship, doing repetitive looking things and talking nothing, although the amount of his voice over was more than needed from my perspective.
Therefore, a lack of the flow of the plot might generate boredom especially in the audience that focuses more on plots than the mechanical side when watching films. But i recommend you see the film in IMAX if you wanna feel the cosmic universe.
P.S. the best part of the film was the attack of the space monkeys (should be a key word).
