妹・栄子(若尾文子)は姉・美代春(木暮実千代)への罪悪感から、美代春の"嘘に塗れた"世渡りを制止させようとする。
だが"白粉を塗る"ことは嘘だが、芸者としての魂を宿すことでもあるというように、美代春の芸者道が一瞬の輝きを放つ。

Her younger sister, Eiko (Ayako Wakao), feels guilty towards her older sister, Miyoharu (Michiyo Kogure), and tries to stop Miyoharu from living a life ``covered in lies''.
