I went to see 'Shape Of Water' on its release day. I quickly understood what some people meant when they said, "it's difficult to win an Oscar". But I thought Guillermo del Toro made an the most awesome film in his entire career. The art is beautiful, the actors are also great and I don't know why, but the characters are really lovely. Even thought there are grotesque scenes as usual, and I wouldn't show it to children.
Guillermo del Toro wanted to make this film since he was six, so and he never compromised.
It seems he has attempted to avoid making a blockbuster film like 'Beauty and the Beast'. That's why the read is Sally Hawkins.
By the way, Michael Shannon plays a villain read from a book I read called 'The Power of Positive Thinking'. It's a Trump's favorite book. This film is set in 1962, but it's a really new world. Don't miss seeing it before the Academy Awards announced.

公開初日に映画『シェイプオブウォーター』へ。人々がなぜ「オスカーを取るのは難しい」と言っていたか、早々にわかりました。でもギレルモ・デル・トロは今までで一番素敵な映画を作ったと思いました。美術は美しく、俳優陣も素晴らしいですし、なぜかキャラクターが本当に愛らしいのです。
今回もいつものようにグロテスクシーン等があるし、子供には見せられないけどね。
彼はこの映画を6歳から作りたかったらしく、妥協を許しませんでした。いわゆる美女と野獣的な映画にはならにように。だからこそのサリーホーキンスです。ちなみに悪役を演じたマイケル・シャノンが読んでいた『The Power of Positive Thinking』という本は、トランプ唯一の愛読書らしい。映画は1962年が舞台ですが、新しい世界観。アカデミー賞発表までに見とこーぜ。
