finally got to watch my boys cillian and rdj on the biggest screen possible!!! 70 mm imax!!! and my god it was HUGE, like the screen was literally a square and I was having trouble focusing on what was going on esp in the beginning bc of how much screen space there was. also bc it's film the flickering of the bright areas of the screen bothered me ngl but I'm just kinda sensitive to that I guess. but damn the stars and atoms and fire parts were so immersive like goddamn I was literally staring at the screen like 🤩 I always use that emoji ironically but this time it's legit!
but was the movie itself good? idk... like technically and visually it was gorgeous, but it's just really really long lol and despite it's length, the first half feels like it's going through way too much dialogue way too fast. and like 90% of this movie is just talking and explaining. like for the first third of the movie I was not invested in the people and what was going on (when I understood what the hell was going on lol)
it was a really interesting look into the complexity of Oppenheimer as a person though, like the man was full of contradictions and ambitions and guilt. also i think they did approach the japan topic as tastefully as they could? but obviously the devastating weight of what happened lingers throughout the last third of the movie. if this does get released in japan I hope ppl realize it's a (long ass kinda boring) biopic and not a pro us war movie type shit cuz it was definitely not that lol
but yeah glad I got to see it! also cillians nip nops are small and the sex scenes were overhyped and unnecessary. it's amazing tho that cillian and rdj are in the SAME MOVIE!!!!! AAAAAHDJSKDKFH!!!!!!! I'm so glad this movie exists just for that reason! go off kings! 👑 I was trembling with joy watching their press interviews during lunch a few weeks back and trying not to grin like a maniac and look like an absolute crazy person lol
