This episode was basically Bluey’s version of “the grass is always greener on the other side.”
I learned that “the grass is always greener on the other side” means 「隣の芝生は青い」 in Japanese. And apparently, you can also just say “the grass is always greener.” Learned something new!
It was actually a very grown-up story about how comparing yourself to others can make you forget the value of what you already have.
As adults, we’re often told, “Don’t compare yourself to others. Focus on yourself.” But now I’m wondering… when we’re young, especially as kids or students, doesn’t being compared with others sometimes have value?
I’m curious about what psychology and neuroscience research has to say about this. I might have to look into the research and papers.
英語で「隣の芝生は青い」は“The grass is always greener on the other side”。
“The grass is always greener”
