Bright colors, healthy dose of quips, and actual likeable characters--one that exhibit appreciable human emotions and depth; Judging by DC's recent blunders, for a moment, I was convinced that I have entered the wrong auditorium. Petty Jenkins crafted a well-deserved debut for the feminist icon--one that is hopeful, earnest, and above all superheroic. Wonder Woman ticked all the right items on the checklist. Until it remembers that it's still a part of DC's cinematic continuity where the third act devolved into a messy, overlong, CGI trainwreck extravaganza. All in all, Wonder Woman is definitely a return to form and is the hero that DCEU desperately needs. That being said, considering how most recent entries within the genre already begin attempting to break the mold, this film felt 5 years too late.
