Survivor film often follows certain formula, thus making it feel quite uninspired and frankly, bland. Whilst Deepwater Horizon felt formulaic, Peter Berg's technical mastery and strong emphasis on realism transport the audience directly unto the scenes, reliving the intensity and the terror of this unfortunate tragedy.
