From a writer-director with movies that serve more as a cinematic event as opposed to a flavor-of-the-week flick, comes Dunkirk. A movie that encapsulates one of World War 2's most momentous episode. Nolan's endeavor in honoring the fact-based story is the epitome of masterful visual storytelling on an epic scale. With the help of its inventively deconstructed narrative, the film transport audiences into midst of battle, challenging norms established in war films of the past. Having said that, Nolan's unorthodox approach to both storytelling and characterization may alienate some audiences, particularly those who aren't to keen in flexing their brain muscles.
