After "First Class" and "Days of Future Past" the X-Men movies are on a high.
How is this one? It was just okay.
There was some great character build-up.
My issue was as much as I liked the character development , it didn't seem to connect and build the plot along in a natural way.
Also there is some superhero fatigue here. With 6 superhero movies coming out this year, of course there are going to be some similarities.
How many times can we see a villain try to destroy the world?
How often do we need CG city destruction?
These are issues/cliches that really hurt the film and dragged the pacing. Especially in the 3rd act.
But they did a really good job establishing the new characters and I'm excited to see what they do in the future.
