If you’re looking for a movie that explores deep problems in the Korean justice system through the lens of a quirky bromance, then I recommend this movie.
I expected this film to simply be shallow story revolving around the two main characters’ friendship. I was surprised when it actually included a look- albeit fictional- into the dark exploitations that happen to the weakest members of society. Without the humor between the main characters, this film would have been very heavy. But with it, there’s a very good balance.
This film frustrated me. It did so well at making me feel stuck and unable to do anything with the characters. It light a fire inside me against people in power exploiting the defenseless to line their pockets. It made me livid to see how priority in life is given to certain types of people. However, the film gives hope that a young generation, with the support of some great mentors, can help to change and fight against those things that made me so angry.
Movies like this that make you think more about the concealed horrors in our world are important to watch. I think it’s good if we start questioning what’s happening around us. We could have seen someone on the street today who will endure the pain shown in this film.
The only complaint I have is that the last 15 minutes or so of the movie are a little more unrealistic. A Hollywood-type ending to what was once a more realistic storyline.
Overall the film was very entertaining to watch and had me laughing until the end.
