歴史映画というより、彼女の人生を振り返る作品。
Iron Ladyと呼ばれるほどのぶれない意志の強さの持ち主。だからこそ、初の女性首相という快挙を成し遂げられたのだろう。そして、首相の立場でそのままで居続けられたのは、やはり人並外れた勇気の持ち主だったからなのだろう。
でも、彼女も人の子。心折れる日はある。不安で眠れぬ夜もある。父や夫の存在なくして、彼女の功績や人生はなかっただろう。
家族、特に子供は辛い思いばっかりだったと思うが、ご主人の亡霊とのやり取りの中で深い愛を感じた。その一方で、君は1人でも生きていけると言って消えていく時、とても寂しくなった。
この映画を観てよかったなと思えるのは、やはりメリル・ストリートプの演技。これそプロの仕事だなと思う。さすが。
そして、有名な彼女の名言がどんな状況から出たものだったのかがわかったこと。
