"You're a tourist of your own youth" That's a line that one of the characters give in this movie.
It's a line that represents the movie. The four main characters that we met in the first movie are stuck in their past and haven't been moving on. There's a nostalgic feeling of revisiting your youth but a sadness to it too.
Because it's not there anymore.
I really liked the approach this took to this story. The movie tries willingly to capture the essence of the first movie. But it's a little different too.
These guys were so deep into their addiction back in the day. But in here, they get a chance to reflect on how terrible they were. Stealing, doing heroine, and letting a child die because of their addiction.
The chemistry between the guys felt real and natural. It felt like a group of friends reuniting after so many years.
While there's a sadness to see that these guys haven't been able to go on with their lives, there's a hopefulness to the movie too.
A lot of comedy and callbacks to the original make this movie a charming nostalgic yet original movie that manages to stand on its own.
