ジョージルーカスにも影響を与えた画家としても知られるジョーダンベルソンの短編映画。

最も宇宙的な作風と監督が自負するのも納得の実験映画でした。話によるとベルソンはノーマンマクラレンやオスカーフィッシンガーから強い影響を受けたらしいんだけど、今作を見た限りでは彼自身も前記したルーカスを筆頭に、多くの実験映画の監督に強い影響を与えていると思います。日本だと、松本俊夫が彼の作風に近いかもしれません。なかなかセンスの良いトリップムービーでした。

目チカチカする

A metaphor of creation. Spirals, circles, and abstract forms move against alternating dark and light backgrounds. An orb changes color, appearing in flash frames. Dots resembling stars or atoms and galaxies with shooting stars are created on the screen. The stars then order themselves into lines. Exploding sunbursts end the film.

The film includes interference pattern imagery Belson created for the famous San Francisco Vortex Concerts (1959-1960).

"I think of Allures as a combination of molecular structures and astronomical events mixed with subconscious and subjective phenomena - all happening simultaneously. the beginning is almost purely sensual, the end perhaps totally nonmaterial. Vortex Concerts

ベルソンは元々画家出身で、ハンス・リヒターに影響されたらしい。
