At some point, I realized that this show is really a story about family, blood ties, and family love. There’s nothing particularly groundbreaking about the plot itself, but that’s what I’ve been paying attention to throughout the series.
Before watching this episode, I thought “we” in the subtitle “Are We Bad People?” referred to Lucky and Kelly. Now I get it.
Lucky isn’t inherently a bad person. Even after all the scams and crimes she’s committed, she’s still portrayed as a kind-hearted, ordinary person. Someone who isn’t fundamentally evil.
Just like in the previous episode—and throughout the series—the subtitle was actually spoken out loud: “Are we bad people?”
And John’s line, “So it just becomes a question of how far you are from the sun,” really hit me. It just clicked.
Then there was the line Dutch said to Priscilla: “Life is just a million choices you make day after day, year after year.”
It reminded me of Luther from Mission: Impossible saying that life is a series of choices. I’ll never forget Luther.
So… this is where the story is going.
I immediately understood why Land released his father, but I’m still curious about why Lucky chose to turn herself in with John. At the same time, this development made me feel like the final two episodes are going to focus even more deeply on Lucky’s inner world.
BUT WAIT.
The ending from the moment Lucky and John get arrested… and then AUTOMATIC?!
I LOST IT.
The second I heard the song starting, I was like, “Wait… is that…?” And the moment I heard the voice, I literally jumped. Goosebumps everywhere.
I LOVE Automatic. I’ve always loved it. I’ve been listening to it since I was a student, and I’ll probably listen to it for the rest of my life.
Putting the overall quality of the show aside, the music in this series is a solid 10/10 for me. The score is a 10/10. Honestly, 5.0 just for the music. From the very beginning, the music has been completely my taste.
And in the end, I think Lucky will find her way back to her family after all.
ってサブタイトルが実際にセリフとして言葉にされたし、父ジョンが“So it just becomes a question of how far you are from the sun.(つまりお前と太陽の距離が重要になる)”って程度の話をしたセリフがすごく刺さった。 プリシラがダッチに言われた“Life is just a million choices you make day after day, year after year(毎日選択したことを積み重ねているだけ)”というセリフ。
