This movie is a crazy throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. You've got HK gunfu action, Indiana Jones escapades, and Alien horror, You've got sexy bits, gore filled thrills, and practical effects that both amaze and disgust. This movie even has a baby crusher used on small children.
But you know what? Amazingly it works. The director is Lam Nai-Choi who may be more famous at least in the West as the guy who made "The Story of Ricki Oh". If you know that movie, you have a good idea of what this movie will be like.
Starring the enchanting Maggie Cheung ("In the Mood for Love" among many others) and Chin Siu-Ho (frequent collaborator with the Shaw Bros. Venom Mob), the top billed person here is legend Chow-Yun Fat, but his appearance could best be described as a cameo, as he is definitely here only to increase the profile of the film. The entire movie is a fever dream, but keeps the pace going and gives a lot of entertaining action even if looks like something produced by Roger Corman.
