ジョージ・マイケルのボーカルとソングライターとしての才能は言わずもがな。が、当時からアンドリューはムードメイカーとして愛されキャラだった。彼がいてこそワムがあった。そしてワムがあったから、ジョージ・マイケルというアーティストとしてのアイデンティティが誕生した。
そういう根本的な部分を再確認できるドキュメンタリー。2人の友情に胸が熱くなる。解散前の最後のウェンブリーでのライブ、アンドリューがすごく痩せこけていたのが印象的。その最後に、ジョージから「君がいたから出来た」と言われて嬉しかったという本音も素直でアンドリューらしい。
ジョージの才能がどんどん開花し、後に残されて羽ばたくジョージに対して本当は複雑な気持ちがたくさんあったはず。そのことも隠していない。
そしてGeorgios Kyriacos Panayiotouというギリシャ名時代から彼を知っている幼馴染として、セクシャリティの告白をされたことも含め、、ジョージ・マイケルという仮の姿で生き抜く彼を最初はそばで、後には遠巻きに、それをネタにするでもなく見守っていたスタンスを友情以外のどんな言葉で表現できるかな。
自分自身も80年代前半の熱狂に巻き込まれて来日公演の武道館にいれたことに感謝するし当時を思い起こし、ノスタルジックな気持ちに胸がかき乱される。
当時を思い返すついでにDo They Know It's Christmas?を聴いたり、メイキングを見たりしたけど、ジョージのボーカル部分が抜きんでいることも再確認できる。短いパートなのに声量と声の艶が輝きすぎて、彼の後に歌うデュラン・デュランのサイモン・ル・ボンが気の毒になるくらい。アゲハ蝶→蚊みたいに縮むので。（DDも好きだし違うタイプのアーティストなので決して落としているわけではない）
ジョージ・マイケル、あの頃夢中になれたことに感謝してる。過ぎ去った自分自身の時への郷愁もこめて。
