Following up on my viewing of Ninja Man director's works, who is said to be Ghana's George Lucas, I also watched Nabwana IGG director's works, called Uganda's Tarantino (by BBC News!).
These are Wakaliwood films from the Wakiriga slum area in the capital Kampala, made with an ultra-low budget of about $200 per movie.💰️
It's a story of a Rambo-like tough guy dad heading out to rescue his daughter kidnapped by the mafia, but there's constant loud narration like "This is Uganda's action movie!", or suddenly a Ugandan version of "NO MORE Movie Theft" PSA pops up mid-story—it's non-stop, you can't relax for even a second.😁
Before the end credits, a message appeared like "Fight child kidnappers!", so I looked it up, and it turns out that turning local social issues into entertainment is common in Ugandan films and positively evaluated as a fun way to spread social messages.👍️
