A beautiful film on a true story! If you don’t know anything or very little on the holocaust during WW2 then watch this film.
It is filmed in black and white which I think gives the film a timeless quality. The cinematography, genre, content and narrative is timeless and will always be relevant.
Despite the fact that the events are true to life and most people know what generally happened to Jewish people during the Second World War, doesn’t stop the film form building tension, but in fact adds anxiety as you wish for characters to survive.
I would say I haven’t meet one person who hasn’t cried at this film, however, I did an in-depth study of WW2 in Britain and Europe, so I would say I’m an outlier as I didn’t cry at all! I know I’m a monster ... I have honestly seen worst in actual footage ( I’m not trying to defend myself 🤥).
